Black identity is a source of pride, power, and rich cultural heritage. While this is an indisputable fact, the ongoing Western racist media narratives have oppressed us into silence. This has affected the lives of the Black community worldwide, perpetuating racial injustice. When we are silent, no one can hear our struggles, our courage, our pride, and heritage. Silence keeps the world from knowing the stories of the black diaspora.
Unlocking Our Voices is a platform for those silenced voices to be heard. By initiating dialogue about the socio-economic challenges, struggles, politics, and courage shown by the Black diaspora, we engage in powerful conversation to drive change in the Black community. In addition, we explore the rich cultures and achievements of the black diaspora via our podcast and blog, showcasing the diverse connection of the African diaspora within the Black communities.
Inspired by the philosophy and teachings of Marcus Garvey, we're committed to reclaiming the dignity and greatness that is ours. In doing so, we're reshaping the narrative and putting into place the proper perspective surrounding Black history and culture.

Our Founder
Meet Greg, the architect behind the creation of Unlocking Our Voices. Growing up in Jamaica, Greg arrived in the US when he was 15 years old. Coming from an island that had long championed black self-love and the embracement of Africa, he soon realized that the narrative surrounding the Black diaspora was deeply flawed and often misrepresented in the United States. This realization led to a lifelong passion for cultural advocacy for the Black community. Through Unlocking Our Voices, he seeks to create a space to challenge flawed histories, celebrate Black excellence, and build a stronger connection in the Black diaspora.
