Our Mission
Unlocking Our Voices is on a mission to educate, inspire, and empower the Black community by reclaiming our history and culture. We aim to correct the misrepresentations that have long defined the Black experience by sharing stories of Black resilience and triumphs. We seek to build on the works of existing Black projects through candid conversations and advocacy to create dialogue and solutions.
Our Vision
Unlocking Our Voices envisions a world where the Black diaspora stands proud of their identity, unapologetic. A world where Black children no longer face racial injustice. A world where they are celebrated for their gifted intelligence, contributions, and youthfulness. Our aim is to empower the Black diaspora everywhere by educating and celebrating our rich legacy of resilience, achievement, and unity.
About Us
Unlocking Our Voices is a Black advocacy platform working to reclaim the Black narrative. We aim to empower the Black diaspora everywhere by educating, inspiring, and celebrating Black culture and history through powerful storytelling and communal initiatives.
Growing up in Jamaica, our founder Greg was unaware of his place within a broader Black community. As a young Black child, race consciousness was the furthest thing from his mind. When he came to the US at the age of 15, he saw how misrepresented the narrative surrounding Black individuals was. This motivated him to search for a deeper understanding of Black history.
Greg pursued a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in History at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Shaped by his experiences through his travels to the United States and Mexico City, Greg created Unlocking Our Voices to challenge the distorted narratives that define the Black experience.
What We Do
At Unlocking Our Voices, we educate, inspire, and amplify the voices of the Black diaspora through:
A platform for exploring Black history, culture, and identity from authentic perspectives. We celebrate individuals who have shaped the Black experience. We also discuss key issues that continue to impact our communities.
We promote cultural pride through our high-quality branded products—while also supporting the mission to educate and empower.
We provide detailed insights into Black history and socio-economic issues affecting our community. We do this through articles, educational tools, and discussions on our podcast.

Our core values guide all our decisions and actions. These values are an extension of shared life experiences of the global Black community.

We offer insights into the Black history about our struggles, our courage, and our pride. In addition, we explore the rich cultures of the black diaspora, politics, and the socio-economic challenges via our podcast and blog.

We share untold stories of Black excellence and resilience to inspire pride and purpose in our community.

We celebrate by highlighting the achievements and contributions of Black people worldwide.

We provide individuals with the right tools and knowledge to stand tall in their identity, reclaim their narrative, and take change into our own hands.
